Claiming DLA for child .... Please advise.....

Hi there I'm new so bare with me :)))

My daughter has recently been diagnosed with Adhd.

I was advised to apply for DLA for her off of my doctor after her being diagnosed and put on medication but I live in a shared accommodation, where there is another adult staying. She is currently in receipt of Dla for herself, our incomes are seperate, seperate rooms etcs etc.

I was wondering can i claim dla for my daughter if there is someone already claiming it from my address???

I'm not to sure of how this works :s

Many thanks :j

  • Yes you can. Dla is paid to people who have care needs above 'the norm'. If you ask for the forms to be sent to you they come with all the info you need. I applied for this for my son last year who has fragile x syndrome. You a welcome to pm me if I can help further.
Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T

    Hi

You would need to be able to provide evidence that your child requires significantly more care from that required by children of a similar age without additional needs.

The fact that you have now received a diagnosis has no bearing on a potential DLA award. It is not the name, or diagnosis of a condition , that could merit a DLA award, it is whether or not you need to provide extra care, and at what level.

The shared accommodation should not be an issue as DLA is not means tested.
    I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<3

Well I have a statement from her teacher who states that she is unsettled etc and needs more supervision than the other children etc one on one etc

I have also got a statement from her after school care showing that she needs to be constantly supervised and not left to her own devises as she can become anxious overly excited and even aggressive to other children. I know this sounds awfull :( I have filled out the form with everything I can think of.

Looking after during the day and night etc, I read in here that a lot of people get rejected.

    So very nervous lol

What additional care needs does she have at home? I may have misunderstood but I think that will be more relevant.
