Drop in spam - coincidence?

I no longer have a Google account though till recently I used Google for searches. Anyhow since I started using alternatives - like Starting Page - my email spam has gone down to practically nothing.
So far as I am aware my computer is squeaky clean with no malware. The email addy getting the spam was the one I used when registering with YouTube. I'm no longer signed up to any Google services but it makes me wonder if there is a connection.

Probably. But i get lots of spam and have never signed up to any google services with my real details.

In fact i can no longer review apps on my android phone because google blocked my account thinking its not a real name.

Well of course its not my real name. There are enough scammers around taking adavatange of tiny snippets of info without you giving the stuff away for free.

Why do you need my name to be real? Ived used the same login name on every account since 1996/1997.

The only exceptions are sites where i forgot my password like this one... I now save a list of all my passwords and website logins, But not on my computer.
