Natwest trying to get money from an old credit card from 2008!!

    wow lots of judging the op has no memory of this debt.so the first thing is for them to prove it. followed up by what this debt is made up of. if he left a hundred or so outstanding then with charges fees and intrest it could result in that. if so challenge it. if they did not default you in 2009 then if they do now they must record the correct date.

    dont agree to anything until your 100% sure that you owe it.

    And thats why standard apr's on credit cards is quite high to cover the customers who forget about paying their card bills.

    They may accept a full and final offer of a reduced amount but you want to check what is on your credit file first to see what defaults or other items have been added already.


    We have just offered a full and final to Nat West (defaulted 2008 but still with them not passed to debt collectors) and they point blank refused didn't even ask us to call them to discuss it! :mad:

    You owe it, you need to pay it. I don't believe anyone can just forget they had a particular credit card... especially when it was used to the tune of £1500... a lot of extra spending to an average student.

    If you are now looking to buy a property then you should have the money available.

    No excuses... take responsibility.
