Delivery of goods causing damage

Hi, my friend recently purchased a new sofa suite. After the delivery men had left she realised there was a gauge out of her wooden flooring. Upon inspection there was a bolt protruding from under the sofa which had caused the damage. The retailer repaired the sofa but is not taking any responsibility for the flooring now although initially did get someone in to quote for the repair. They then offered a 3 choice settlement but havn't honoured the one selected & now claiming that the delivery men, although a delivery charge was paid didnt have to bring it into the home. What rights do they have ? what can they do?

what can they do?
Firstly, I would get them to have a read of MSE's Failed Delivery guide.
Maybe there is something in there that will help.
But put quite simply, if the seller refuses a remedy, then your friend will probably have to consider small claims court action.0
