Thought on Glow Worm boiler as replacment for open vented system?

Could I just ask thoughts on the Glow Worm boilers. My mum has had BG out today. She qualifies to get a replacement under a government scheme, her existing one is corroding badly so it needs replacing.

She could not remember the model the chap who came out to do the survey today said it was, all she could remember was Glow Worm 30 something.

Its an open vented system she has, so hot water cylinder in the cupboard upstairs and a cold water tank in the loft. Chap said they fit like for like.

Are Glow Worms reliable? I know this is not going to cost her to have it fitted but would hate for her to have issues not very long down the line if its not such a reliable one to have.

Many thanks

They're ok as it happens. Made by same holding company that own Valiant.

Like everything, you get a few good reviews and lots of bad reviews - people are happy to moan, but rarely take the time to praise.

Out of interest - had I said "no, they are rubbish", what other options does she have?

I refurbed a few properties for myself a few years ago and fitted glow-worm ultracom2 boilers....never had a call back to them ever. I rate them by far the best value for money.

Three years trouble free so far on Glowworm Flexicom 30SX system boiler. For some reason, the open vented version has the pipes going up, as opposed to down.

The wired (Smart Wiring Centre) control system is very complicated if you want the advanced capabilities to work but I like it. Best to get the wireless system for the non-techie.
