Mileage on Previous MOT incorrect.

Went to pick up the wife's 2nd car from the MOT, same garage as last year, and I noticed the Miles this year are 106197, and the miles last year were 106680.
In reality the car has probably done 1000 miles if that.
Clearly they made a mistake last year, and I never noticed, and they say "There's nothing we can do, it's been too long"
I don't think it really matters that much, as we are not intending to sell it, but it looks like an idiot has been clocking it. Plus we have a classic policy, which has an agreed mileage limit of 3000 miles, and it all looks a bit erm dodgy.
I'm just going to have to grin and bear it. :rotfl:

There really isn't anything you can do. I've been through this back in 2009 when they screwed up the mileage on my car, and then it was put off the road for six months waiting for parts after being vandalised.
The only thing VOSA could do was reset the mileage on that previous MOT to the mileage on the clock today, which was a slight improvement.
This was for an MOT six months ago, for a car that had only just entered the country, and needed an MOT before it could be legally driven, so I had plenty of other paperwork to prove the mileage, VOSA still couldn't/wouldn't do anything, so in you're case you're most likely completely stuffed, sorry.0 -
Who's the insurance with?
If you're not planning on selling it, then the insurers are probably the ones to concentrate on. Might be worth giving them a call and explaining. Do you have paperwork from garages showing mileage through the year?0 -
Would need to be an idiot to go to the trouble of clocking it 500 miles.
Or maybe a member of the Proclaimers...

They have 14 days to amend it on the MoT computer, which is why it imperative you check it all for accuracy. It's quite common, my bike has done 7011 miles, but it was recorded as 70118. The tester didn't spot the last digit was tenths of a mile.
Oh, how we laughed!

I've had this and it was a nightmare (sorry to say). They had to retake a new MOT (for free) and passed!0

Adrian Flux IIRC, but usually change on a yearly basis as the best deal is never offered 2 years in a row.
What is this "Garages" you talk of ? I do my own servicing and repairs, and don't bother with recording it as I'm trying to beat my car related OCD.

I can tell you that it's due it's yearly oil change. and it's has an exhaust and a puncture repair in the last year. I fitted the exhaust myself.0 -
But a buyer might think he has done 9,500 miles and clocked it back 10,000 miles.Joe_Horner wrote: »Would need to be an idiot to go to the trouble of clocking it 500 miles.0
