Can you sign off JSA and still get HB, CTB and Child Tax Credits?

I've been signing on for almost 3 months. I've already had 2 appointments with my personal advisor, with another scheduled for in 2 wks time. And I've already had 2 appointments with the Careers Service with another scheduled for the end of September. My field of work is purchasing/buying, and my CV is getting me a few interviews, so without blowing my own trumpet I don't believe I'm one of the ones that need a lot of help.
I'm not sure how well they'd take it if I say they're hindering me in my search, but the way I'm feeling I just may give it a go!
Don't say outright that they are hindering you: explain how your jobsearch is going and what you are doing, and politely mention that you might be getting on even better if you weren't following their well-meaning suggestions.0 -
Yes you can still claim other benefits when not in receipt of JSA. I am not sure why people have answered that query with a diatribe about what you should do re voluntary work.
All I would say is that when we assess a claim on what we term 'nil income' that is no JSA, earnings etc, then after a short period, we start to question it more than a claimant on JSA - we ask to see how you have been supporting yourself and so on.
HTHI currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.
