Thank you so much for this thread, everyone. I came across it about 10am today and I’ve been buzzing around ever since totally inspired and motivated. I know there was Ehallett’s challenge before but I missed it so this is the best thread ever. Athough you can see in my sig, I am slowly recovering financially, sady I just got a £1k tax bill payable starting next year. Perfect timing, perfect thread. Anyway, my contribution :

    Ideas that really inspired me

    1) Look for all loose change lying around the house (great cos it will motivate me to clean it too!)
    2) Apply for AQA (I’ve emailed! Really excited cos I have been waiting for UK vacancies since I missed the last lot)
    3) Sell some items. Beanbag, old mobile, spare (!) digital camera, toiletry odds and ends. If I were really brave, but I dont think I am! I would burn a copy of all of my CD’s and flog the originals)
    4) Use my Clubcard & Nectar points for my weekly shop/petrol (dont want any of their deals)
    5) Work 1 or 2 nights (barwork, waitressing??) when I have a paid week off from my evening job in early July
    6) Slip in some overtime at my dayjob.
    7) Change my Home Energy tariff to a cheaper one that also gives £30 cashback
    8) Ask Lynzpower to refer me for You Gov (I owe you more than £1 for all the Quidco tips!)
    9) Cancel stupid Time Magazine subscription
    10) Reduce my food bill by £5 a week
    11) Make own sandwiches saving approx £10 a week
    12) Possibleeeeeeeeeee dabble with some matched betting at least for the cashbacks
    13) Check out some shares that I have faith in that are currently selling low ( a risk, but perhaps.....)
    14) Flog the Cashback sites to death

    Cashback sites
(lots on this thread thanks to Lynz and others if you want me to compile a list from the thread so far, I can do that later)

    Quidco
    Rpoints
    Greasypalm
    Pigsback
    Lightspeed
    ipoints
Freefivers (Dezzi, do you want to refer me?)

    Some Questions

Who mentioned Edigital Research and Brainjuicer? What is available through them? Do I need to be referred by someone?

Can I count using my Nectar and Clubcard points for food shopping/petrol?

Can I count switching my Home Insurance to the huuuuuge Tesco 50% off deal and saving £125?

    Cheers everyone and good luck

Wow Dee - loads of good ideas there. :) BUt even if you don't want the clubcard deals, sell the vouchers (with the winning bidder telling you what deal they want and you send off for it) on Ebay as you'll get at least twice their value then.

  • I keep reading about selling the Deals vouchers, Sea, so I think I'll try that when I next get some vouchers. Do you need a minimum of £10 of vouchers before you can convert to Deals? That's how I understood it:confused: and I don't use Tesco much now I've converted to Asda and Lidl:j so hardly get any nowadays:mad:

I'm going to count anything validated/tracking* in quidco in my count as I will (eventually...hopefully) get this money even if it is outwith this challenge's dates. I think I'll post it as pending tho with a separate part as money I actually have now eg

    £0 paid/saved, £5.32 pending. TOTAL=£5.32:j

That way all my quicoing etc will show I'm doing something and help to motivate me even if I don't receive it all in the timeframe! :T :D

No - I don't think so , as some deals are worth less than £10 so I wouldn't think so- take a look at them on Ebay and see what they're worth?

    Hi everyone

Just been following Lynzpower's great tips on Quidco :A .

    Now my total is:

    AQA - £71.40
    Change - £8.00
    Mystery Shopping - £4.70
    Quidco - £43.25

    Total - £127.35 :D

Doing some more AQA at the moment and have some Ebay stuff finishing tonight so will update again later.

My personal theory (with some advice!) is this:

    I decided I could either

    1) Count all the extra cash that arrived in my bank account e.g. payment from previous Mystery shops, AQA any quidco etc

    OR

    2) Count all the extra cash I earnt in the 2 months period e.g mystery shops, quido AQA etc (!!) whether it actually arrived or not

I decided to go with the latter option as I felt it would be more motivating but as others have said it is totally up to you as its your cash. i personally felt like if I included it all I'd feel a little bit like I was cheating as it was earnt in over 2 months. My exception to that would be if any survey sites or pigsback and the like came to fruition in the time i.e I reached a £10 voucher, i'd include that whole £10 as otherwise it gets a bit complicated!!

In no way am I telling any one else what to do just thought I'd explain my own thinking.

Good luck all, people are doing v well - have been away this weekend so getting a bit behind but have a possible scheme that I shall explain in a minute as it is rather complicated and feel it needs its own post!!

:money: WARNING - Read to the end of this carefully before doing anything about it!!! :money:

Right here I go - sorry if this gets a bit complicated but I shall try to be clear.

In the process of signing up to stuff on Quidco, I came across Cyberslotz a casino type site which gives £10 cash back. I searched this forum and found this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=313855 about it so read through about 68 times and decided to have a go.

I deposited £50 and got £50 bonus bet to play with. However in the Terms and Conditions you have to "bet" £225 before you can withdraw any bonus money. MSE's advised playing the 9p Ice King which is a spinning game with no skill just click and the computer gives you any winnings or not as the case may be... and about 4 hours later and about 1000 mindless clicks I have withdrawn £67.09 giving me a £17 profit which is very nice. Plus hopefuly 1000 Rpoins and another 1000 Rpoint for using their Highest Cashback agianst Cashback Junction.

HOWEVER - this is my warning you could potentially loose your £50 and your bonus money and come out poorer   not very money saving!!
It is NOT at all Risk Free, don't think I would necessarily say low risk either, unlike matched betting which I have dabbled in previously. If you didn't win anything at all you would be in trouble and potentially couldn't just withdraw the £50 and run as it uses different parts of your cash at random.

Reading the other thread it appears it was safer when you only deposited a minimum amount and if you only wanted the Quidco/Rpoints, so you could do it by just depositing £10 which would be much safer and less time consuming!

Anyway am happy to try and answer any questions as I realise this might be a little confusing - particually as it is written by me :o and if you have never done it before ;)

Would strongly suggest reading the other thread first as a starter to see whether it is something you might do. Hey ho off to update my sig :T

Well heres my update (sorry it appears I have missed this this weekend as I have now made three posts in as many minutes!)

    Mystery Shopping: £75
AQA : £21.30... boo must do some later
Quidco : £63.60 (tracked or validated) - just realised I have to subtract the stuff i paid out for some of them boo...
    RPoints: £2.82
    Other: £17.09

    Which is a healthy £179.81 - yipee!!

Unfortunatly dont think next week will be as good as only one Mystery Shop book but hey ho, shall see what else I can do! Now I really am off to update my sig - toodle pip!
