Comparing suppliers-no previous info
We'll hopefully be picking up the keys to our first home on friday and as me and my partner both live with our parents we haven't had to deal with energy suppliers as yet.
I work for British gas so at the minute i'm probably gonna end up going with them but want to try and get a comparison with other companies but to compare online you have to have previous information such as usage and your current tariff which we don't have. Any ideas how to do comparisons without this info?

Even if you just guess the figures & tariff you enter on uswitch etc, you'll still get a comparison of who is the best value in your region?
It won't tell you how much your bill will be with any accuracy, but it will tell you who's cheapest?0 -

If only that was true. fact is no one company is cheapest for everybody; your cheapest supplier all depends on your actual annual usage. In these circumstances it is impossible to find your cheapest supplier straight away. I would imagine the best chance is using the Ofgem average consumption figures (16500 gas, 3300 electric) and see what happens in the first few months. It may be an idea to choose a tariff with no exit fees should you realise after a few months that the tariff you originally chose isn't the right one for you?0
