can anyone advise me of the best/quickest way to get from the train station (or from in town as planning a bit of shopping first!) to the lowry.
Not able to walk too far due to oh having mobility problems.
many thanks x

Lowry hotel or centre? They are in two different places.
Metrolink to Eccles/Media City runs to the lowry centre while if youre after the lowry hotel thats by Salford central train station.
I used to spend quite alot of time in Manchester. Its a nice place!0 -
Get the tram from Piccadilly to Media City and its a five minute walk.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

thanks both of you. we have about 3 hours to kill before the show so thought we could do a spot of shopping first0 -
There's a shopping centre opposite the Lowry Theatre, so you could have a look in there.
As Marley Says, get the tram from Piccadilly Station or Gardens, making sure it's the Eccles via Media City one, not just Eccles, which bypasses the MC stop.just passing through.... Nothing to see....0 -
The Lowry outlet shops won't fill 3 hours. But there are a number of bars/restaurants in the area, and of course the Imperial War Museum North is just across the water there0

grab a local taxi usually about £8 if you have issues with mobility and a few of you. The tram stop is there but its a 5-7 mins walk and you have to walk around shops too. Although they are often x0

I can't comment on the accuracy or otherwise of the fare quoted by Torialou, but there usually plenty of black cabs around central Manchester that you can simply hail without pre-booking.0
