Hi all im after a bit of advice for my parents please
My mother has been involved in an accident a few weeks ago which has left her unable to walk without the use of a zimmer frame and when she does use it she is only able to walk a few steps.
We need a stair lift fitted in her home so that she is able to get up and down the stairs to use the bathroom, toilet, bed etc
Are there any grants available to help her that are not means tested as she has a pension which makes alot of benefits out of her reach. She does currently get attendance allowance as that is not means tested if im correct
Thanks very much for taking the time to read this

Hi Skintsaver,
Please see link below for a previous thread about stairlifts - might be useful

One option might be to rent a stairlift.
I recently arranged for a stairlift for my mum - we bought a new one outright and got it for less than the price of a second hand one.If you go down this route don't accept the prices they quote initially always pull them down.
We put a Brookes chairlift in and the sales man told us there would be an additional £300.00 charge for some joinery work which also needed to be done (this is not always necessary). I told him we were not prepared to pay it and he did the joinery work at the time of quoting for the stairlift thereby negating the joinery fees. :T:T

I got my stairlift fitted via my OT, they arranged everything; got 3 different quotes and selected which there thought was best (and it wasn't the cheapest). Ordered it, got it all fitted and paid for it.
Only problem it did take 10 months from start to finish, I could of bought one and had it all fitted within a couple of weeks. So depends how urgent its needed.0
