Sold a mobile. Stuplidly forgot to put UK only and now an American buyer?

No, to be honest I'd not complete the sale either.
For £59, given how depressed the American Market is, it seems unlikely they'd choose to buy a phone from the UK, when they are freely available in the US.
I really would steer away from this, using the "not posting abroad, sorry" option. As soon as they try anything like "please send to nigeria" hit them with a dispute. This buyer isn't going to neg you for not completing the sale. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
I would e-mail this "buyer" and tell them that the phone is no longer for sale due to your error on the listing. Be polite and say you would like to go through ebay to mutually agree not to complete the sale, if they agree to this you will get your listing fee refunded. Also ask them to leave you positive feedback and you will do likewise but wait until they leave there's first before leaving yours. If it's a scammer then I don't think they'll waste time leaving you feedback so no worries there. If it's a genuine buyer, they will want some good feedback as they are new to ebay. Best of luck.0

Thanks for all your replies. Ebay have emailed me and it is a scam so that is good so I won't get charged and now I can relist. Thanks again0

Just a word of advice, clearly put in large red writing that you do not wish for oversea bidders to bid on the phone when you do relist as I had a phone on ebay which stated UK only and there were Nigerians bidding on it and one of them won it, he had a -4 feedback score and he kept e-mailing me fake paypal receipts to say I had funds. Obviously I didn't send it, I e-mailed him to say that it clearly stated post to UK only so I wouldn't be sending the phone. I had to relist but I said in my ad in huge red writing that if anyone living outside the UK did bid then I would cancel their bid. The good news is there were no oversea bidders. Just be careful of these scammers, anyone who is new to ebay could be conned out of alot of money. I'm so pleased that all turned out in the end. Good luck next time.0

Sharon,
Hi - what you can do is to specify specific countries in your listings. I always specify UK and EU countries only in mine. That way non EU members cannot automatically bid on your items.0 -
Another thought.
When listing you can also specific to block certain people who have negative feedback or are in other countries.
To block International Buyers when listing:- Select the International Postage section.
- Change Additional postal locations.
- Select the countries you want.
- null
To block certain Buyers when listing:- Select the Additional information section.
- Click on Change Buyer Requirements.
- Select "Are registered in countries to which I don't post".
- change other options on the pop up list as required.
- save changes

To add those blocks is all very well. But it wont stop any scammer.
Most of the scammers use UK accounts.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -

Yes, if they (the scammers) use UK accounts you have a problem.
The only thing you can do is block them if they have a negative feedback of -1 or more in the "change buyers requirement" section.
You could also say people with feedback less than 10 positive to contact you first before bidding or you will cancel their bids.0 -
Thanks for the tips. I'll remember that in future. I've been on ebay for quite a while now and I didn't realise that you could do all that.0
