Help! Just picked up a brand new car today with black alloy wheels. On way home I managed to scrape one of the wheels against the curb. What can I do before husband kills me.

Start packing that suitcase - quick.
There is absolutely nothing that you can do today.
It needs a professional to fix it.
Check yellow pages and/or google for 'Alloy Wheel Refurbishing'
It's inevitable - but very galling on a brand new car.
I got a windscreen chip on the way home with mine.0 -
How bad is the scrape? Probably not much you can do other than arrange for the alloy to be refurbed (look on the web). A quick diy fix will look just as bad as the original scrape, particularly on a brand new car.
Edit: I picked up a small scratch on a side window on the way home from the dealership with mine last year, courtesy of a lorry spitting gravel. At least nothing hit the paint so I do consider myself lucky on that one :rotfl:Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
The best thing you can do is to seal the scratch - clear nail varnish is ideal - black nail varnish could look better and be a longer lasting temporary repair. Failing that get some car wax on it.The man without a signature.0

Best to come clean BUT
My sons car has (matt) black alloys and hes kerbed them three or four times (and i've clipped them once).
If you sand down the affected area of the edge of the rim, then touch it in with matt or gloss black respectively. You'd have to be looking really hard to spot it.0 -
How much will a refurb cost me?0

You dont need (and dont want) a refurb. All you need is a smart repair - probably £50-60.0 -
Why are you obliged to fix it?
Has your husband never had an accident with anything that's your joint property? He's never had any mishaps with anything?0 -

I just feel really guilty. Was so excited about driving a brand new car. Hubby is away for a week, will have to get it fixed before he gets home and then he will never know.0 -
There will be someone in your area able to fix it - so don't worry - the only lasting damage will be to your wallet/purse.
You might get a mobile one to come to you like these guys in the Newcastle area:

Good luck - we'll keep your secret.0 -
