I bought a potato & an onion storage bag in the pound shop. I was in there looking for green plastic storage bags I'd been told about but I couldn't find those.
I want to get other bags, a banana one, eddingtons make one. Tesco online sell it, but you have to pay P&P. Lakeland do some, their cucumber one is reduced & they have a buy 2 get one free offer on the non sale ones.
Does anyone use them?
I like to eat a wide variety of fruit & veg, plus its usually cheaper to buy bigger bags, I keep everything except bananas in the fridge.
Does anyone use the green plastic bags or the cloth permanent bags?

I bought a potato & a veg one from Kleeneze, think I was around £7 for both of them. They are the cloth kind. Have only used the potato one & in less than a week they get soft and grow eyes
. I store mine in the cupboard under the sink. If anyone knows how to keep them longer I would be most appreciative

I find I can keep potatoes for weeks whe I store them outside in the meter cupboard. In fact I keep all my fruit and veg out there as anywhere in the house tends to be too warm.Slimming World at target0 -

Thats why I use the fridge, our houses are warm all year round. I wish I had a larder.
I would worry about attracting vermin storing them outside, but then I don't have a brick cupboard like you, only sheds.0 -

I have heard of people storing sacks of potatoes outside but I would be worried of little mousies and other yucky beasties getting to them. We have a garage that I could store them in we did have mice at one point in our garage but haven't seen any sign of them lately. Have you found any problems with that happening?
I'm sure that I read something about storing potatoes in the fridge increases the starch in them so that's why I stopped storing them there.52 Week Challenge £15/£13780 -
I bought a potato one from a £1 shop and it's been great. Before that they were always sprouting. After having a new kitchen fitted not long back they are also now kept in a cupboard but last loads longer. Onions I've just kept in the cupboard, no bag and are lasting a while. Didn't have too many problems with them sprouting before them -possibly cos it's a North facing kitchen.
For the salad/veg I keep in the fridge's salad drawer I don't have any bags. Instead I line the drawer with a layer of kitchen paper and find it makes the produce last longer. If I take anything out of the bag I bought it in and I can feel moisture on the produce, I give it a quick wipe with kitchen towel before putting in the fridge. I don't get many problems with food decaying with doing the above.0 -
I made a fabric potato storage bag because the Lakeland one was so expensive. It has a double hessian base and drawstring top. I keep it on the pantry floor, and find potatoes keep for weeks and weeks - much longer than any other way I've tried.
Onions I keep in a open wicker basket next to the potatoes. That way I can see if any are going soft and use them up straight away0 -

Potatoes convert starch to sugars if the temperature drops too low.0 -
