Keyboard Help

I've just completed a complete reinstall of XP Home and Office 2000.
Sad to say Browntoa and PaulK, the repair was not a 100% success, the only thing I forgot to save was the address book.
I've just tried to use the number keypad to update a spreadsheet in Excel, but when I use certain numbers I get random symbols or the search page opens.
e.g push 6 get 54 and search opens
push . get 01mb
It's the original keyboard, no biscuit crumbs or drink have been spilt.
Could this be one of those strange coincidences i.e. sort PC, keyboard decides to pack up?
Any suggestions? Just thought where I can borrow a keyboard.

The only way is to try a new keyboard. I would be suprised if this did not fix the problem. They are only a few quid for a cheap one.0

Thanks for all the replies.
No, I didn't touch the bios .
It's a plain ole ps/2 keyboard.
I have solved the problem with the help of someone who is a maintenance/ technical person who diverted a keyboard from going into a skip.
It was just a keyboard whose demise coincided with a reinstall.
Problem solved.
Thanks RMove along, nothing to see.0
