My old Pioneer DVR540-HX (manufactured August 2006) has given up and I need a replacement.
Its features were DVD recorder, freeview tuner, guide plus allowing me to record from an external scart which, in my case allowed me to record from my sky box (SD)
What I'm after is a replacement box with the following features
Decent EPG
Twin freeview HD tuners
Hard disk, min 250gb
Scart in, so I can record from my sky box
Some way to export programmes (USB or wireless)
The nice thing about my old pioneer box was that it had guide plus+ and could change the channel on the sky box, which was pretty cool, but thinking about it, it's not strictly necessary as I can use the sky auto-view feature to switch channels.
I don't need a DVD recorder/player as I have BR player built into my TV.
Suggestions anyone?

Well, that's a good point. I don't currently have sky HD, only SD, and I'm quite happy with that, after all sky HD is £10/month, and since they've removed the F1 channel from the HD lineup I'm less likely to go for it. I suppose I could buy a second hand sky HD box for the FTA HD channels, but I still want to record stuff from sky like I could before.
 So, any useful suggestions ?0

The Sky+HD will still record other channels without a subscription to HD as long as you still have a basic Sky subscription. It'll also record the Free-To-Air HD channels.I suppose I could buy a second hand sky HD box for the FTA HD channels, but I still want to record stuff from sky like I could before.

So go buy one from E-Bay etc, it'll prove to be your cheapest and best option. If you buy from anyone other than Sky, you'll need to pair your existing viewing card with the new box.

Oh, I never knew that, that's good advice, and as you say will likely be the cheapest option, presumably, I'll need a 2nd sat feed, but that should be OK as I have unused lnb's on my dish.0

The new boxes also have built in WiFi, for ondemand stuff, iPlayer etcThat gum you like is coming back in style.0

Tell Sky that your box has broken and you're just going to buy a Youview recorder instead (Freeview HD, plus integrated on demand stuff). Hopefully they'll offer a new box, and if you're up to getting the 2nd line down yourself, you'll have got a tasty upgrade. I don't think you'll need to burn too much stuff to DVD will you?!0

I always buy What Hi-Fi (or home-cinema magazine) as a one-off when making this sort of purchase and pick an award winner?

The Panasonic DMRBWT735EB, without doubt (shop around, I got mine for £338)Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
