hi , i bought a van from a dealer on the 15.7.13 and the engine developed a fault after 2 days use, after a couple of days of trying to get the dealer to look at it, was told it was an injector and was charged a further 200 pounds for a new one he said i can now collect it as it was ok , it made no difference at all , i had to convince him to have a look at it again this time he said it was a cylinder down on compression , i asked for it to be fixed but he did not really want to know,i went to trading standards and had to go through writing a series of letters after a third letter which i think was entitled pre court action, i recieved a letter on 11.8.13 from the dealer saying they are now willing to repair the van free of charge . i dropped off the van and keys on 15.8.13 and have heard nothing since , have constantly phoned both their landline and mobile just keep getting answerphones ,despite leaving messages im still getting no replies and i also happen to know the van is not on their premises any longer and have just had to apply for a new logbook as dvla informed me the dealer never sent his part in , six weeks later and im 2000 pounds down and dont have a clue where my van is DO YOU THINK I HAVE A GOOD CASE TO GO TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT WITH A CHANCE OF WINNING ,cheers

Do you have signed paperwork from them indicating they've accepted the van into their possession to work on it?
In other words, can you prove you gave them the van to work on?0 -

Very few garages give such paperwork. It wouldn't be too difficult to prove (balance of probabilities) this!
Depends what the fault is and the vehicles condition (ie age, mileague and price).0 -

a witness who followed me over there and saw me hand in the keys
