Tap Valve no stop .

Bathroom basin taps valves no longer stop but revolve past the stop . Same applies with new tap valves .
My initial thought is that the tap seats are badly worn although taps do turn the water off but will revolve past the off point . Taps are circa 1969 pre decimation .
Only a real problem as elderly person in house insist on screwing taps down and consequently the valve end comes out of the body .

Euthanasia is a last resort.
Same with brand new washers same with brand new replacement tap head .
Set replacement tap valve to fully screwed in lower valve .Install and it turns until tap unwinds itself almost as if a slightly thicker washer may cure the problem .
Going to try a little bit of packing behind the washer .
Them youthinasia tablets don't work0 -
you can't undo the top of the tap by turning them off !! that would be tightening the internals into the body, if an elderly person is having difficulty better to replace the taps with 1/4 turn lever onesI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Thats the problem the internals screw down to cut off but tap can still be turned and that results in the thread and nut end that holds the movable washer piston undoing itself .0
