Printer doesnt recognise new inks

Hi I've had Brother DCP115c printer/copier for years. Not used it for months so when it told me to replace the inks I duly obliged.
I use compatibles, always have done, with no problems. But this time it flatly refuses to recognise them. Error messages include "open cover & reinstall cartridge", "no ink", & "have you installed. ..".
Please help if you can as I need to copy some stuff urgently. Thanks.

Thanks Bengal but didn't help sadly. Any other ideas?

they have some strict verification checks to prevent people from using compatibles. The bulk of the cost of compatibles is down to the chip. Some compatibles have really unreliable chips. Though sometimes even genuine inks trip the ink verification.

It can fix it if you just remove and reinsert the ink cartridges a few times. Try that.

Thankyou for that. These are compatibles I've used before without problem before and I did try reinserting numerous times before posting. But I will try again. Is the only alternative a whole new batch of inks if no joy?

  • I would say you probably would have to replace the inks, if it will not recognize them after a few more attempts
