housing allowance and change of circumstances

Hi
does anyone know ...
if your already getting housing allowance because your income is low and your renting, and an elderly relative moves in with you as she needs looking after and she's receiving state pension then will this change of circumstance lower or increase the housing allowance that your already getting?
or will the state pension be seen as extra income for the person getting the housing allowance therefore the allowance gets reduced even though the pensioner doesn't contribute?
thanks

Your LHA rate would increase to 2 bedrooms if in private rented.
There will be a non dep deduction. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -

Thanks
how much is the non dependant deduction likely to be? percentage wise (roughly)? will the increase (extra bedroom) cancel out the non dep decrease?0 -
If your relateive is receiving Pension Credit Guarantee there will be no deductions, her state pension would need to be lower than £145 approx'.
The non dep' deduction for your circumstances will be £13.60 per week if not receiving PC.
Your local housing allowance rate will increase to 2 bed' rate (presuming you live alone and have the extra bedroom to accomodate), check out your local authority website as it varies across the country but i would expect it to cancel out the non dep' deduction.
If you yourself receive any rate of DLA care component thre will be no deductions.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0
