Paying an Aqua Credit Card

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me - on the Aqua Card's site, it say's you can settle your card bill by making a Payment with a Debit or Credit card.

I've never done this - but I have just got a Barclaycard with 6% cashback, so was wondering if I could pay using the Barclaycard and get the 6% cashback?

However, my worry is the payment would go thru as a 'Cash' Transaction. Does anyone know if this would be the case?

Has anyone paid Aqua Credit Card with a Credit Card and has it shown as 'Cash' or as 'Purchase'?
Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!

Where did you hear that Aqua accepted credit cards? Last I heard they only accepted Debit cards.

On the website self service, there's a tab on the Nav Bar called 'Pay by Credit/Debit Card'.

When I clicked it you get the payment form and:
Make a payment by debit/credit card

Payments to your card will be credited to your aqua credit card account within 4 working days. Please make sure you have sufficient funds available before making a payment.

Cashback (depending on the card) often only applies to purchases. Therefore as you are not purchasing anything - rather making a payment - it would not count towards cashback. Perhaps worth checking the Barclaycard t&c's.

Question in my head - is it not akin to balance transfer? No idea :o
Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm sure someone else will be along who will know

Nop, it does actually go through as a purchase ;)
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

So does this mean, I would get the Cashback from Barclaycard, on top of Aqua Reward Card?

Would I need to pay Barclaycard straight away or just on the normal payment day?

I'm really sorry to ask, it's just I don't want to be hit with Cash Advance fees and interest.

I really thank every poster for there help.

@izools - have you done this before?

Although it says "pay by debit/credit card" I believe the intention was debit cards and credit cards are usually blocked as a method of payment if you try one.

There may/may not be certain credit cards that happen to allow the use of a credit card to pay the card off. Such examples don't tend to get discussed that widely if discovered, since if it becomes widely known the card company is likely to become more aware and fix it (note that a card company having to pay transaction fees on payments to the card is likely to result in them loosing money).

Is this definitely the case? I get a fiver cashback each month when I spend more than £300/month on my Halifax Clarity card. Thinking of paying off my Aqua card with that to get it close each month

Edit : hadn't read the thread directly above when I posted this.

Can confirm it would not accept payment from my Halifax clarity card.
  • I can confirm that it wouldn't accept my Barclay's High 5 Cashback Card either

I noticed this when Aqua re-did their website.

So I thought I would ask BC whether they consider it as a cash transaction or purchase. Sadly the person on the other end didn't quite understand the question and thought I meant a balance transfer.

Anyways, I thought i'd try it anyways. Didn't work with a Visa..... however I suspect it will work with a Mastercard.
