  • Anyone think it would be a good idea for us to keep a running list of the companies already taking applicants for staff?

So looks like so far we have:

    Boots

    TKMaxx

    Post Office

    Royal Mail

On my rounds this week I've seen ads up in the window at Boots and Card Factory.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

Many companies start advertising in august for seasonal workers, I know the earliest I have ever done seasonal work is in july till the end of january. Good while it lasted and there maybe a chance of a even longer stay.

Don't think the Christmas jobs are advertised yet. The link is to the general web page.
  • Most large retailers advertise on their website for Xmas temps, place I work for already has and has started employing some already to fill gaps. A lot of the retailers the jobs are posted daily as they become available and they will disappear once all the interview slots have been filled so you need to be quick. Just keep looking online as and when you can. You could also maybe ask at local independent places and see if they need a hand.

I know one of the posters said it was all youngsters who got Xmas jobs but where I work this definitely is not always the case. We had two lovely ladies who worked for us over Xmas who were older, one retired and one not sure what step they were going to do next. It gave them an sight into where I worked and they did a great job, great with customers.

The one things would say is for a Xmas temp job, remember if its retail you won't normally get holidays as its retails busiest time of the year and be as flexible with your hours as you can to fit in with the needs of the business.

    Hope you find something.
