freehold company electricity

Hello,
I live in share-of-freehold flat in a converted house with 2 other flats. The freehold is owned and run by a freehold company which we jointly own, but which is a dormant company - any expenses to do with the flat get paid by each of the flats equally as and when work needs doing.

We have a single light in our hallway which has its own electricity account - it uses a tiny amount of electricity, but, as it is a 'business' account and has a standing charge, we end up spending about £100 a year on it. Whilst it isn't a lot of money, I resent it every time and feel like we're being fleeced by the electricity company.

Has anyone else faced this problem? Any ideas? I've considered getting an electrician to re-route the power for the hallway light to our main (as it uses so little electricity it'll make virtually no difference to our bills), or is there a way of changing it to a domestic account? Or is there a company that won't charge a standing charge?

Thanks!

    - its a no contest, a one off small payment to a sparky to rewire to your supply
    - an uber economy running bulb, then completely close and be done with that account
    - any other route requires more effort than it would be worth,, and no gain whatsoever

Put an energy saving bulb in (LED is best) and route it to your own fuse board. The electricity will only cost £10 a year at most, even if you leave it on all day - fit either a time switch, light sensitive switch, push switch or PIR and it will be even cheaper.

You'll have to make sure you cancel the other service and get the main fuse pulled and meter taken away by the supplier (not your electrician) as they will still assume that you've got service if they think there's a meter there even if you don't use it. It will probably cost to have it taken away but you'll save that in the first year
