Options
Hello There :j

Just wondered if there is a way you can block someone from sending you any PM's but still be able to see what they post on the forums?

Thank You

Yes,just add them to your ignore list.Off for a link

How do I put someone on my ignore list?
The ignore facility is a useful tool that means if you don't like the way someone posts, you can opt not to read what they write. To add someone to your ignore list, click on their username then view their profile. You'll see they've posted, but won't be able to view the content unless you choose to. If you feel their posts are disrupting the forum, then report them to the Forum Team.

    Further info:

Its done via this link: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/profile.php?do=ignorelist

So just add the members name to where it states: Add a Member to Your List...

  • If you use the ignore option you can still see what they post by clicking the 'view post' which appears next to their post.

    Thanks,

I think that will work then. I know how to block someone but was unsure as I "might" need to view one of their posts.

    Thanks OYL

    Edit:

I have just tried it & it works like a dream

  • Actually does putting someone on ignore really stop them PMing you? It doesn't say so.

You can either enable or disable private messages.

It doesn't stop them sending it, they would think it was sent OK.

Instead it just never arrives in your inbox, as if vanishing into nothing. You won't know that they have tried to send you a message.

    you can 'block' the user..

if you go to one of their posts, put your mouse on their user name & you'll get a drop down list

    at the bottom is
add xxxxxx to your ignore list

    & click on that,

then it will tell you you've successfully blocked that user,

if you've been getting abuse or any hassle of the member you want to block,
please report them to the team as well xx
