When asked, I always reply "not to the best of my knowledge".

    DRL's (Daylight Running Lights)

DRLs are Daytime Running Lights aren't they? Although I must admit that Daylight Running Lights would actually be a better term!

Why do you want to add DRLs? Is it for looks, or safety? If it's the latter, why not just turn your headlights on?

Are these the things where Chavs drive about during the day with foglights on but no headlights?

    Definitely NOT.

No baseball cap on backwards required for DRLs.

No it's not for looks its for safety
Headlights can blow and replacement bulbs can be costly. DRL's can last for a lot lot longer, plus they are less demanding on the system than headlights.
I've travelled throughout eastern Europe and Scandinavia where headlights or DRL's are compulsory and it makes a lot of sense.
Being seen on dull days is always a good thing. I think UK should adopt that law as well
I'm always astonished how many drivers leave it so late in an evening to put their headlamps on and many think that putting just their parking lights on is enough.
I drive with my headlights on all the time and notice less cars pulling out from side turnings whereas without them i'm often getting drivers hesitating and pulling out leaving it very close
I think I've made my case

Out of interest, what is the cost of having DRLs installed? I've started using my headlights more now for similar reasons to you, but I'd assumed that having DRLs installed would work out rather more expensive than replacing headlights more often.

They can increase your perception of invincibility and encourage you to take more risks.

"Don't worry, he can see me I have DRLs" (BANG!)
"I can reverse into there no problem, I have parking sensors" (BONK!, tinkle)
    That's ridiculous
That would simply be bad driving. Not paying due care and attention.
Why do you think that most new cars these days come fitted with parking sensors and DRL's as standard?

Look on ebay. they can be very cheap. Check the sellers feedback before buying to be sure your not buying rubbish.
Tick the box to buy only from UK sellers or you may find yourself waiting forever for rubbish goods coming from China

This is why Volvos have had headlights you can't turn off for years. They managed to do it with out making it as though you have foglights on or foolishly bright LEDs once everyone started to copy Audi.

I really can't see a headlight bulb at a tenner needing to replaced that often. I think I've only swapped a couple in near 20 years of motoring and I do 20,000 miles plus a year.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

I've always declared towbars and been told I don't need to.

Weird really, it's the deadliest mod going if used wrongly.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
