Aviva strike again!

Options
I'm getting a new car on the 2nd September so had to change my motor policy.

Quoted online on MyPolicy area with Aviva last week - £68

Tried to change online yesterday when I received the registration information yesterday - could not find the car. I rang Aviva to be told the price had increased to £140 due to changes and market fluctuation.

These things happen and it's had to be paid, but that doesn't make it less annoying.

Perhaps a lot of customers were changing their insurances yesterday in time for the new registration on Sunday - Aviva would have known customers had no choice but to change!

Left it a bit late haven't you?
When I picked up my car, the insurance had to be supplied to the dealer a good two weeks prior, so that they could get the VED.
On an aside, the new car may not be found initially, as the DVLA records may not be available to the insurance company.

Hardly Aviva's fault you left it late to arrange your insurance.
  • Its tricky lining everything up and that's where deposits on cars can come in. So is mobile insurance quotes that can be done on the spot. Go with another insurer. I pay over £60 per month for my insurance so count yourself lucky.
The harder one works the luckier one gets!

I don't think 4 days notice of a change is leaving it late (I done it Thursday). The dealership only received the info from the DVLA on Wednesday.

Do not under any circumstance tell your insurer what your MSE username is.

Contact them through the phone, do not contact this poster directly.

This forum should be a safe place to talk frankly about your car woes. Do not give your insurance company ammunition to then go through your post history.
  • Hi londonTiger

The only reason we request your MSE username is so we can link your post on this forum to your email. However should CrazyClum wish to follow your advice and contact us by phone the customer services number is 0844 891 1101 and we are open Monday to Friday 8.00am –8.00pm, Saturday 9.00am – 5.00pm and Sunday10.00am – 4.00pm

    I hope that helps.

    Kind regards

    Dave

I think the dealer is wrong here.

I signed for my new car last Tuesday and pick it up on Friday.

I was asked yesterday to e-mail my insurance yesterday as the car had arrived at the dealer. He said if I can't just bring it in on Friday when I collect the car.

Prices do change. I checked mine last week with Axa and I had to pay an extra £32 odd. Done it last night and it had changed to £4.87.

    Win win :D

Where does "late" come into it?

I thought the OP was complaining about the fact that the quote he got last week for £60 has now gone up to £140.

I thought quotes were valid for a month, if they aren't and can more than double in less than a week then it make the MSE due diligence of checking insurance before buying a car hard to do
