Hi all, can any one help.
We brought a windows 8 Acer machine , believing it to be much faster than our previous windows 7.
We purchased it from Acer direct on the 30/7/13.
As it was so annoyingly slow and the mouse and keyboard connections broke , I tried to contact Acer direct to have it sent back, I couldn't find a contact number for them ,so rang Acer themselves, they said the would have a look at it ,, They received my machine on the 20th august 13.
I got the machine back a few days later with a invoice stating that they found that the ps2 port didn't work and they replaced it, however this machine is still very slow to respond to any task .
I have spoken to my internet provider to see if the problem was with our connection, they assured me that this is not the case, our broadband is fine but on taking over my machine from there offices they agreed that there is something wrong and suggested I take it back to my supplier and get a refund.
I have emailed Acer direct and asked them to refund me as this machine is faulty , they have refused and said I have to send it back to Acer for another repair.
I quoted the sale of goods act 1979 , but still no luck

What was the spec of your old "fast" machine and what is the spec of the new one?
Being slower than your old one doesn't make it automatically faulty, as long as it works to the spec it has then there's nothing you can do.
It's a bit like buying a ford KA and expecting it to go as fast as a Ferrari0 -
Your contract is with Acer Direct so if the machine is inherently faulty then they are the ones that have to deal with it. Since it is less than 6 months since purchase it will be assumed to be inherently faulty unless proven otherwise.
You may want to try and find the exact cause of the fault yourself though. The people on the Techie board may be able to help you with that. If you know exactly what is wrong it will speed things up when you're asking for a resolution, and there might even be a way to fix it without the hassle of involving Acer Direct.0 -
This is all I know, I'm not very good with anything technical .
ACER XC100 AMD E1-1200 4GB 500GB DVDRW WIFI WINDOWS 80 -
That really is as slow and basic as they get these days so I would doubt it is a fault and just a cheap budget pc not designed for any multitasking or high powered tasks0
-
What exactly is slow about it? Is it when doing something specific, or it just generally takes longer than your previous machine?0

It takes an age to type anything as the words appear on the monitor about 5 seconds after I have typed, it takes ages to load any page and more often than not it says it cant show the script as the script is to long .0

If you go to the Techie forum they will be able to help you identify the source of the problem. It definitely sounds like unacceptable performance even for a low powered machine, but it may be caused by software you have installed or malware rather than an inherent fault. There may be an easy fix.0

Ok will do.
Many thanks0 -
With the typing, try opening word pad if you can type normally there but not on the web it is certainly a software or Internet connection issue0
-
If they find a fault with the machine then let us know, Acer Direct will have to sort it for you
