Ford Fusion fault

  • I have no idea if the Fusion was similar to the Mondeo Mk 3 but I was forever chasing coil packs and leads with that bloody thing. It's a known issue with the Mondeos, I would presume it may be the same with the Fusion?

The trick for me finally was to replace all the HT leads and the coil pack all at the same time. The problem is if a lead is a bit duff, it will take the coil pack out with it. If you just change the coil pack, it will blow again with the dodgy lead.

Also, for the Mondeo, only the Ford Motorcraft one actually worked for any length of time. The Bosch ones failed within months.

This I discovered after posting and replacing the sensors and cat in my Mondeo too only to have the very same problems return. Swapped all leads and coil pack and it was good for a year. The Mondeo simply eats coil packs, it's just the nature of the car. So I'm told anyway!
