Car Insurance refund - Not!

I insured my classic car, and recently sold it and cancelled my insurance which had 6 months to run. The broker/insurer do not offer any refund. Is this now normal?

Who is it? Know to avoid them on future. No, its not normal. They should refund but take a fee.

Unless the fee matches the 6 month refund.

Which knowing classic cars (We've got a GAZ M-20, and a heavily modified Russian-spec VAZ 2107, both on classic policies), this could easily be the case.

I'm only 30, and insurance comes to less than £300 on both, so 6 months = £75, whilst steep for an amendment fee, could be the case.

When I had to cancel a motorbike policy, there was a cancellation fee AND a short term insurance fee. Between the 2 of them, they wiped out any refund.

Check the policy. If it says you can cancel and be refunded send one letter of complaint with 28 days notice for court action and follow through in small claims. They will refund you on your way to court including costs. I have been ruthless with some companies if they don't fulfil their side of contracts of late. Just think if you'd miss a payment they would do the same. Lol I'm just waiting until one doesnt pay up as I will be sending in baliffs to the head office.
