Toilet soil pipe is close to wall

We have taken out our downstairs loo as it leaked and was cracked. We had to have a new floor as rotted the old one.
Been told that the soil-waste pipe for toilet ts close to wall, so can`t just buy a toilet from b & q as not standard fitting? they buy cheap european stuff or something, also been told may have to have cistern boxed off wall?
Been trying to get a plumber but not much luck as yet, do know a handy man, but think I need a proper plumber. House was built in 1959 and loo was put in then.
Any ideas?

The pipe will just need extending,no problem,go into a plumbers merchant and ask to a multiquick extension piece.
If you are looking for a plumber,i would be helpful to post where abouts you live;)
You usually have to have the cistern boxed out if the pipe is to far away from the wall, and it cant be cut back.0 -

Id imagine that this is what you need.

So I should be ok then.?
Should a good diyer be able to do it, or do I need a plumber?
With the old toilet the seat wouldn`t stop up, it had a pan then a pipe short one to the cistern which was supported by brackets. With 3 men/boys in the house need a lid that will stay up.
Should I be able to buy any toilet or is 1 model better than others?
I live in west yorks.

if you are altering the soil pipe then almost any will fit.
Does the pipe come from the floor or through the wall,if it comes through the floor, measure it from the rear wall to the center, then you will have to measure any new toilet to make sure the pan will fitt.
As for can a good diy-er ,can do this, only you can answer that or the person doing it.
There was another plumber on this site from yorkshire, look through the posts and send him a pm,maybe he could help you.0 -
