Paypal Expiry On Card, Updated But Alert Still Showing?

Just a (I assume) quite easy question but I can't see the answer to it.

The credit card on the Verified Paypal account mum is using is about to expire. So she updated the Expiry Date. It turns out the "alert" warning about the expiration date still shows when she signs in, but the expiry details for the card have been updated on the system (it has an option add/remove/add Paypal code beside it, not sure if that latter option means anything).

Is there any way to remove the alert, or will it disappear when the expiry month is up? Thank you.

updating the expiry date will not be enough as renewed cards will also have a different card number etc.

Mum's card has the same long number, only the CCV and start/expiry dates are different.

Paypal suggests deleting and re-inputting a card when it's a Maestro card (this is a credit card).

From reading around, it looks as though Paypal send a four digit code that gets listed on the bank statement (which would account for the "paypal code" option next to the updated card currently showing..obviously she'll have to wait for that). This allows a test £1 (or whatever it is) to be taken off, to prove the identity of the account holder. Inputting the Paypal Code later on refunds the £1.

Just a bit worried that the account may be Limited as the expiry date runs out August! The new expiry date is shows on the account but the "alert" still shows on sign-in and it has "Add Paypal Code" next to it.

The account is Verified (also has a bank account attached to it). Hope it makes sense. It also has a bit of Paypal Balance, will that be affected too?

If its waiting for you to input the code then the warning will still appear until the code is added as until then the updated card has not been verified.

The only thing if the card expires before you add the code, it just means no card assigned to PP account, so payments made will have to come from the PP balance or other backup source such as bank account.

Thanks, earthstorm. It's actually quite hard to get Paypal advice online, why can't they make it easy! Mum was worried the account would be blocked somehow. Will she still be able to input the Paypal code to the credit card when she gets it?

I keep reading things about Paypal not allowing you to input the same card details if it has expired (why, I don't know) and I'm not sure if that will happen and what limits that puts on the account, if so?

Nothing will happen. Delete the card, and then put in the new one. You don't need to bother with the £1 charge.

There is no requirement to have a card attached to a paypal.

Okay, I thought it was a requirement to continue using (and the alert on the sign-in page says as much "Please enter a new expiry date to continue using Paypal". That's a relief, then :)
