PCH- My OS (windows ME) Won't allow me to run AVG 7.5. Anyway around this without updating the OS. Maybe an earlier version if I could source one?
    Cheers

As you're on ME then, yes, you have a problem.

    Try Superantispyware. It's good.

Thank you v. much everyone - have duly made note of the other protective thingies you have all recommended and will work my way thru. (PS I havent yet worked out how to do Private Messages actually - but will obviously respect peoples wishes on this - I would only send one if specifically requested to even once I have worked that out). Think I have worked out thanks button - clicked on little round circle by sending names this morning and decided thats probably it - I shall have to go back to site info to check on that one. Thanks again - sure I am not only one to benefit from this advice. Roll on when Virgin start giving us Vista users our PC Guard security I am paying for!! Meanwhile - have taken precaution of swopping my debit card and will do credit cards in future for online purchasing - gather I am covered by insurance if owt happens that shouldnt then!

If you're talking about the circle under the username next to the triangle, that just indicates whether that user is currently logged in. The thanks button is the big long picture in the bottom right of a post that says (funnily enough) "Thanks".

If you want to send a PM to a user, click on their username next to a post and then select "send private message to...". Or click on "Private Messages" at the top of this page, next to where it says "Welcome ceridwen".

Am duly trundling through things users suggested. Gone to Spybot - S & D site - got as far as the mirrors page, ie

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

now thinking - which option do I pick - does it matter? bearing in mind that this is a Vista Home Basic PC (don't know if that makes any difference).

Go here and download the first "download" option part way down the page. That should to it!
