Transferring Office 2007 spreadsheet to Office 2011 (on Mac)

Wondering if anyone can help please?

I purchased and installed Microsoft 2011 Office for Mac, and now want to transfer worksheets from Office 2007 (installed on PC).

I saved the worksheets to a memory stick and installed on Mac, clicked File, import - but unsure where to go from there.

Is there an easier method of going about this?

If anyone could offer advice would be very grateful.

Thank you

  • Easiest way is just file & open, once finished just save on your Mac.

    Thanks for replying.

Do you mean - click File, Open on Mac worksheet?

When I do that it gives me lots of options, not sure where to go from there.
  • Click on File and then navigate to your memory stick, highlight the file that you want to open and then click ok/enter.

    Thanks again.

I seem to have copied one of my worksheets to Mac, thanks to your help.

Where are they usually saved, is it in Documents (like Windows PCs), or is there anywhere more suitable?
  • It's up to you where you want to save them. They will go to your docs unless you change to somewhere else.

Just one subtle 'gotcha' - sometimes dates can have a slight difference been PC and Mac - it's all based on ancient history (well the 1980's) but just keep an eye if you have dates without years in some cells (eg 24/3), they can shift a day when moving between platforms. It's easily solved by using proper years on your dates (24/3/2013) which is good form anyway. Just in case it happens to you.
