Return to Work Credit - Self Employed

Does anybody on here have any experience of RTW for Self Employment?

If so, I'd like some advice on what the paperwork is like for having to prove hours worked, amounts earned etc. I'm a bit worried that in the early stages there will be very little income to support the hours worked and wondered how they would view that. Also the work I am thinking of doing is sporadic/erratic, so some times it will be a lot more hours and others it will be less. Some of it is also of a confidential nature, do they contact the people I am invoicing to check what I am doing for them etc?

If I get accepted for the payment what happens at the review period if they aren't happy with what I provide? Do they just stop the payments?

They do not check. They are satisifed with whatever you provide. You declare whatever you want and they will believe you. They don't have feelings so they won't be either happy or sad for you. The payments will not stop.

If whatever you have provided turns out to be false then you open yourself up to prosecution.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Have you got the RTWC3JP form for applying? Just had a look at this and there does seem to be a place for checks.

Sorry, no experience of this myself. Are the notes with the form helpful?

There is an old thread here:

    that might be of use.

I do have the forms and have spoken to the office today. However, I was just told that I will have to fill in weekly income on a form which is submitted after 10/26 weeks along with other proof of trading. All I will have will be bank statements as the pay will be automatically calculated and paid, and I don't like sending my bank statements to all and sundry. Payments won't be received in the first few weeks as I've got lots of learning to do.
