URGENT HELP! regarding dog eating passport!

the crap that happens to me never ceases to amaze me! today just topped it off! hubby and i went to london 2 days ago and paid £206 for fast track passports.booked holiday everything great...until we decided to pop out today and when we came home found a very guilty looking dog laying in a mess of chewed up paper.on closer inspection found it was my husbands brand new passport!! arrrrrrgh just want to cry.
what i want to know is what do we do? we are travelling to majorca on the 11th september and now im panicing weather or not theyll accept it.
basically the dog has chewed the top and bottom of the spine ,all his details are readable and photos intact ? would majorca let him in? could i say it hasnt come lol? im in panic mode now .any advice would be much appreciated

  • Unfortunately I would say that this would be classified as beyond wear and tear and therefore you will probably need to apply for a replacement. I would get in touch with the passport office asap and you will probably need an appointment in person.

I hope I am wrong but I doubt your husband will be allowed to travel on that passport

Im sure i read online that when the courier delivers the passport they take a picture of the house they deliver to, if this is true you wont get away with saying it hasnt arrived.

That's if you are returning to the UK and it's the only ID you have. You are in the UK wanting to go to another country. The immigration service at the other end will not let you in with that passport.

I'm afraid it's another trip to the passport office. If you have got travel insurance you can put in a claim.

That is some nasty passport, able to eat your dog!!!
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • I suppose you could wait for the other bits to emerge and try and glue it back together.

So no travel insurance then. It is highly recommended at the very least to get basic coverage.

  • I think you're a bit unlucky the dog had a go at the bottom right corner. That's the corner with all the machine readable lettering, bu if that's OK then you may just be fine, if you're lucky, maybe you should try sending pictures of every page to the Spanish embassy in London?
