Broadband help? Plusnet pro?

Hi, I'm not very techie so I'm seeking some help or ideas!
We have broadband with plusnet, and every so often it drops off, for a few seconds to a minute or 2 there's no Internet.
I've spoke to them and resolved it to a point...now...we have bought an android tv.
This little box is connected to the tv and the router via the Ethernet cable. The problem is the Internet seems unable to cope with it, and keeps dropping out.
I've looked at plus net and they do a 'pro' which is an add on, and gives priority to those customers using it.
Its makes gaming better and is better for those who work from home.

Wondered if anyone had this, or if any of you clever techies know if this will help us?
We don't have fibre optic broadband, not sure if we can have it as we have no cable...guess that's a whole other story?!

Thanks if anyone can help.

I left Plusnet as i had many issues with their routers. ( they in total sent me 7 routers) all failed in some way 2 would not even turn on. go my own D-Link one and this worked and no further issues, but at the end of my contract i left.

The basic question is why it drops out .
Your internal wiring , your equipment modem router etc .
Outside line from the pole underground cable from the pole to the cabinet exchange or finally the ISP .
  • Reading the Plusnet pages I don't think that the Pro add-on will help with your drop out problem, all it does is give you, theoretically, better speeds at peak times, nothing to help with connection problems.

If you enter your phone number here:

    http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/

it will tell you what speeds you can expect from your line ( it's not 100% accurate but gives a ballpark figure ) and also if FTTC ( Fibre optic from the exchange as far as the cabinet and then copper wire to your house ) is available.

Post the results here if you want to and we'll have a look.

    Hi Shopaholic2,

Sorry to hear the line is dropping out. The Pro add on won't help with that, as JJ Egan says it's likely a fault with the wiring or line. If you could run through the checks on our website at http://faults.plus.net that will prove whether it's a line fault or not and if it is, it'll raise a ticket to our faults team who will get things sorted for you.

    Hope that helps.
