Is it worth me trying to get a credit card?

Hi,

I would like to get myself a credit card primarily to start re-building my credit report but I'm not sure whether I am in a position where I am likely to get accepted.

I filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and was discharged in 2010. I also have an unsatisfied CCJ from the same time. I am aware that these will be cleared off my credit report in two years time but I am now in stable employment with a child on the way and would like to start getting my credit back in shape for when the bankruptcy and CCJ are cleared.

Are there any credit card companies that are likely to accept me in my current financial state? High APR does not worry me too much as I will be using it for small amounts (maybe food shopping) and paying it off monthly.

Thanks
Tom

Try someone like aqua or Vanquis. If anyone's going to accept you, it will be someone like that.

With respect, OP, why not just try living without credit? It didn't work last time...

With respect sharpy2010 I would like to point out that my bankruptcy was due to unfortunate circumstances, not poor credit management

Fair enough, in which case I apologise and would suggest that ZX81's advice is spot on. I've heard Vanquis are the easiest of the lot, followed by Capital One, and then Aqua, so if it was me thats the order I would progress in.

    Good luck!
