Network Rail problem.

Could anyone give me any advice regarding what to do with this problem please?. At the back of my property there is land which is owned by Network Rail, its next to a railway. Some time ago my previous next door neighbours fly tipped lots of asbestos sheets at the back of my house on this land. They were like joiners etc and they did this before they moved.
Anyway I got in touch with the council and they said as it was the Railways Land then it was for Network Rail to sort out. I contacted them and a man came out and looked at the asbestos, took a picture and said yes its asbestos, its dangerous and we will get a contractor to remove it. This was in May this year.
Since then nobody has come to remove it and I've phoned them a couple of times and was told the contractors will come in August but nobody could tell me when exactly. Well August has been and gone and its still there.
I have rung them up but its just a call centre and they have said that they will pass it to the relevant team. Im fed up with it chasing them all the time and have said I'm now going to see my M.P as I'm just getting fobbed off all the time. Is this the correct course of action or is there another body like an Ombudsman or someone I should contact? Its annoying because its dangerous and I want it sorting out.Thanks.

What did your MP say?
Speak to your local councillor, or get you council's environmental health people to sort it out.0 -
The councils environmental health said it wasnt for them to sort out it as it wasnt on council land. It was for Network rail to sort out.
Its the M.Ps surgery next Saturday, I will go to see him then.
I cant see a councillor helping as its nothing to do with the council.0 -
But it might put pressure on Network Rail to get it sorted
Make sure you mention it's asbestos and that your worried about the fibres getting released to cause health issues0 -
Are there any grounds for legal action against network rail?0

I dont know to be honest. I will discuss it all with my M.P next Sat. If anything its a breach of health and safety from a company.0

What sort of asbestos is it? If it's in solid form, such as corrugated roof sheets, then it's not dangerous at all as long as nothing is being done to it (like sawing) that would create dust or fibres. It does still have to be disposed of properly, but it's not something that would have to be done urgently.0

Its that type that used to be a garage roof. It can be dangerous, if the particles get in the air I agree.Like kids jumping on it etc.
The point is that I was promised that it would be moved in Aug, and they just havent bothered moving it and its not on.Its been dragging on for months.0 -
How do you know its asbestos?
Did you put it there yourself?
