Late easa payment caused fee's

Because of a computer glitch my EASA due for payment on 14th August was not paid until 24th August, I have it paid into an account which has some monthly direct debits set up on.
Although I got the money eventually and everything is now back to the correct dates I incurred three failures of direct debits because of this, and have now been advised by the bank that a fee of £75 (£25 for each DD) will be applied.
I can't afford this, the bank are being harsh and saying they can do nothing, and the DWP just don't want to know.
Do I have a case for any sort of compensation.

Assuming you are not mistaken and the late payment was because you did not supply your sicknote on time....in which case, you have no chance.One_Enchanted_Evening wrote: »Because of a computer glitch my EASA due for payment on 14th August was not paid until 24th August, I have it paid into an account which has some monthly direct debits set up on.

If your sicknote was already in and valid for the period OR if you were in WRAG or support group, then you have a case... You should send in documents bank statements showing the charges, and ask DWP for a refund of bank charges. send it recorded delivery and check after 7 - 8 days that they have recieved the letter, wait for the response if they refuse then you have the right to an appeal.
What do you mean "DWP don't want to know" who did you ask?0 -
Agree with the above post, start your letter with 'special payment request'.

My circumstances hadn't changed at all, I am in the support group and have just had my DLA renewed, although I know that is not connected.
When I rang the DWP and explained to the advisor, she just said that they don't pay bank charges, however they are incurred.
She did admit that there was a computer glitch which caused the failure of payment, because I then got another payment a week later rather than fortnightly to get me back on track, but of course that came too late for the charges.
I don't check the account every time a payment goes in as I have never had problems before, so I didn't find out until too late, the charges have already been applied.0 -
She was wrong, they do.0
