Cashplus. Any good?

Does anyone have any opinions on cashplus?

Tried to call them up about their pre-paid cards for a holiday, but there appears to be no-one to answer calls.

Haven't heard of cashplus. Is there a reason you are choosing them? There are several other options here if you want choice. These are definitely reputable companies.

Not answering the phone doesn't sound very good business.
  • thanks for that link. look like nicer cards.

I just googled prepaid thats how I found them.

Be very careful if you're using Google (or indeed any search engine) to find financial products, they just list websites, too many people take a listing on Google as some sort of recommendation.

Cashplus seems perfectly ok if you have a terrible credit record and cannot get a current account anywhere, simply for the purposes of building up your credit record again. They are listed as "last resort" in the official MSE Credit Cards for Bad Credit article.

However, if the sole purpose is to have some cheap holiday money (which is what the OP seems to be after), there are many other alternatives: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-travel-money

If you need prepaid card for using abroad I will recommend CaxtonFX. Fee free withdrawals abroad at good FX rates. I have Cashplus card too, but I use it only for rebuilding my credit rating, i just settled my account in July 2013, so I have 12 green marks on my credit report and a settled loan.
  • I used Cashplus a couple years ago to help rebuild my credit rating. It's great for that purpose.

I always use a FairFx prepaid card for travel. The exchange rates are good. You can top up from your regular bank account and it hits your FairFx account within an hour (at least they have always done so for me). Never had a problem withdrawing or paying for stuff in any country I have used it.

Yes I have one too. They now offer loan short term loan advances with a very high APR. But if you settle it on the due date it all helps with your credit rating. They start at £50 then after a few months it goes up to £100 and now I have been advised it's £200.

Cash Plus costs £4.95 a month and is only good for helping to rebuild your credit history.
