MSE Eligibility Checker Problems?

I just wanted to let anyone who is planing to use the MSE eligibility checker know that in my personal experience it has been rather inaccurate.

I used it to check whether I would get accepted for the Amex Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card. It said flat out no that I wouldn't and didn't even give me a percentage chance of acceptance. It did mention something about age possibly being a factor. I will soon be 22 and have been using credit cards since I was 18 (never paid any interest though :money: ), thought I'd apply anyway and was instantly approved. I don't know if I am the exception to the rule either with the checker or Amex but I just thought I'd put it out there that the MSE checker might not give you an accurate overview of the position if you're my age and good with your money.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Amex has accepted everyone who applies in my experience, as long as there are no bad credit markers. Obvioulsy they need to declare sufficient income (which may or may not be a truthful declaration)

I have a default from four years ago (didn't even know I had it until recently, currently fighting to get it removed as I wasn't even notified) and Amex accepted me

Well that's interesting, as I've been saying they seem to want to broaden their customer base and get rid of long-standing loyal customers by doubling fees on the high-end stuff.
