Insurance for lease car - recommendations pls!

Options
Hi,

I am changing employment soon, and have until now had a company car insured through company insurance (which also covers me to drive any company vehicles in the fleet).
I am moving to a much smaller company, so things are going to be a bit different. Owing to the size of the company it is not cost effective for them to provide insurance on the company plan for lease cars as it is hugely costly and of course has bigger implications. They do have company insurance for vehicles which are business based (delivery vans for example) but the excesses jump massively if they want to add on individual named drivers. (There are only about 5 of us who will have a lease vehicle for sole use) So, I need to sort personal insurance.

I have started to look at quotes etc and have already come across companies (More than, M&S) who wont insure full stop because I wont own the car, and then others who want massive amounts as I have not held insurance in my own right for nearly 5 years. I have no points or convictions, 1 accident (single vehicle) which will drop off at the 5 yr point at the end of October.

Anyone else have similar insurance or can suggest reputable companies to try??

TIA :D

Most insurers will accept a lease vehicle, though their websites may not indicate so. Likewise some insurers will give you additional credit for your claims free period as a company car driver but as NCD can get up to a 80% discount (though more commonly 65%) it is inevitable that with 0 ncd premiums will be high

Use the aggregators and double check the results when you click through. Alternatively enter you own the vehicle for the purpose of identifying the cheapest insurers and then contact the insurers directly to advise its a lease car BEFORE buying the insurance

It also depends on the lease. My last lease car came with the V5C in my name (not sure that is the norm though).

If you don't have your name on the V5C and you have no financial interest in the car (i.e. you don't have the lease on it), I think you will find it virtually impossible to get insurance. How do the other employees manage it?

Thousands of people drive lease cars, so that is patently not true.
