I just realised a direct debit is going to push me £8 overdrawn on my Premier 21 account at A&L (I don't have an overdraft).
Will A&L return the DD, or pay it?
The unauthorised overdraft charge is £3 a day!

If my similar experience is anything to go by they will pay the db and hit you with a £25 item payment charge and another £25 unorthorised overdraft fee.0

frepol's right. Definitely ask for an overdraft as it will be free to set one up.
Pay some cash into your account at a branch or post office, if it's not already too late.0
