Years of handling credit & paying on time will give someone more of a chance of a high credit limit in which credit limits varies from each lender and circumstances of the individual.0 -
OP how are you??
If you can answer that it would be a start - anything else we do not have the foggiest as we know nothing about you and you have chosen not to enlighten us.0 -
Have you asked your bank? They would know your financial history better than anyone else so would likely give you a better limit than anyone else. My bank NatWest gave me a limit higher than any other card company I do business with.
Gone from Poor to Excellent Credit. Proud of my recovery. Never going back to the sub prime!
NatWest Select, Advantage Gold, First Reserve & e-ISA account holder. Holding: NatWest Platinum MasterCard, Virgin MasterCard and American Express Gold charge card.0 -
Thanks for replies. Iv had 2 cards in the past and a loan where as my partner hasn't had any so it might be worth me contacting my bank to see if i can get a higher rate.
Thanks for the help0 -

Barclaycard look to extend enough of a limit to cover any balance transfers you ask for during the online application.
When they approved me I ended up with a limit:income ratio of almost 100% before I closed my other cards.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I agree that Barclaycard give big limits - I was offered a card with an £8k+ starting limit, but the others are only £2-3k.
Although, Nationwide have offered several times for my limit to be £7.5k.
In addition, I believe from reading these forums, MBNA give limits on the higher side of other lenders.Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -
i would echo that MBNA and Barclaycard give higher limits. AMEX gave me a shocking limit! ha_________________________________________
@ 08/13 total was £8,008.28-Pay off £1500 by end 2013 Challenge = £220/ £1500 14.67%

On the contrary, Barclaycard give me a pretty paltry limit compared to all other lenders except for Vanquis (when I was building credit). I got £1500 which is lower than I expected, but not too low to be useful. Others gave me roughly double.Oh, you wee bazza!0
