Can my neighbours access my computer?

Im a little entrigued by a comment my neighbour has made today. He reckoned that my computer is showing up on his computer as "BT connection". As I dont have a wireless router and my connection is a wire to my modem, I cannot see how this can be the case.
Could it be that someone else in our street is using his wireless?
Im confused
cheers Wel

If you don't have wireless then you don't have anything that physically broadcasts.

I think it must be someone else's. He doesn't realise that all and sundry round here have been connecting to his wireless! :D I've used it a couple of times in the past when my connection at home has been off (only to get my emails!)
    regards Wel

If you are wireless capable, then it is possible that you may have setup your pc/laptop to enable wireless adhoc mode, which could allow access by other peers.

This was with my laptop. My normal computer I use doesnt have wireless capability as it stands.

I'd be careful what you admit on here. It is illegal (actual cases have been successfully prosecuted) after all.

Could be he's rumbled you and is on a fishing expedition. The proper thing to do is advise him to secure his wifi, but then you wouldn't be able to use his connection when yours is duff; would you?
