Can anyone help? Ppi claim

Options
I've been trying to start ppi claims on behalf of my brother, who has a learning disability. We are not sure but think he may have had insurance on 5 loans in the past. These loans were with alliance and Leicester, northern rock, Barclays, Yorkshire bank and Halifax. He can't find much details of any of them so I just wrote to each of them with the first standard letter on the site asking for the terms and conditions. I wrote on 20.06.13 and have only heard back from the Yorkshire bank, who wrote saying too much time has passed and they no longer have records, this one was from 1995!The Halifax loan from 2006, northern rock was from 1996-1999, alliance and Leicester was from 2005-2007 and we have absolutely no idea about Barclays.
Am I fighting a losing battle here? I was either going to put it all to one side or as a last ditch attempt go to a pip claim company. So instead I thought id post on here.
I think my problem is lack of info, is there any way round this is I have dates and which company the loan was with but not much else??
The 2 nd form on the site requires much more detail which I know we will not have

You need to send a SAR and £10 to each company to see what info is left. You need the account numbers to complain. See the front page for a template
There may be no info left because of the length of time since he had these loans.
A company will make you do the same thing because they do no investigating for you, they only send out the same form with a stamp that you would.

  • Thanks you. What is a SAR? Also when you say I need account numbers do you mean to do this initial stage or they will then provide me with these?

    Cheers
