PPI - Silent treatment from Halifax

I filed my PPI claim for my Halifax credit card about six weeks ago now. I received the acknowledgement letter after just a few days, and since then I have heard nothing from them. I thought they had to send a holding letter after 4 weeks, and reach a decision within 8 weeks, is that right? Should I get in contact with them, or is it best to sit tight?
The background is that when I applied for the credit card in branch, I was told I would only be accepted if I agreed to PPI being added, and I also wasn't asked about any pre-existing medical conditions, which I do have. I've had the card for 7 years, always with a low limit, so I reckon I'm owed just under £500, which will pretty much pay off the card. Is my claim likely to be successful given these details?

They were given 8 weeks to sort out your complaint, but they don't have to tell you anything in the meantime.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
