Holiday booking Advice

Hi all,
I am looking to book a holiday for me and my girlfriend to Gran Canaria for 7 nights from 21-28 September, flying from any of the Scottish airports. I was wondering if anyone had any advice about which websites to use for booking, and which to avoid? We've budgeted for ~£400 each for flights and hotel, and would prefer half board if possible.
We're not particularly fussy about where we stay in Gran Canaria, so any advice people have on places to stay would be useful
.
Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.
Ryan
