Trying to figure out how to get a house

Well
Husband is currently earning 24k before tax, and i am a SAHM- we have one credit card and an overdraft- these will both be cleared before savings commence (and total £1200).
We live in south east London in a private rental- all money is gone from rent and bills.
Husband is looking for a job in clacton and surrounding areas (for the same wage). Once this happens we are moving into my in laws for a minimum of 1 year and can save 15K- we would also be selling everything we own to raise funds.
By moving to clacton, we will have childcare through the grandparents and enable me to get a job which would go into the savings pot (possibility we can save more than 15k- projection of saving £1k plus what we have sold)
So as you can see we are looking to sacrifice a lot to get our own home.
You seem to have a good realistic plan.
hope Hubby finds a job and all goes well0 -
Aw thank you clapton!
I've been told i'm barmy! but i'd want my son to have a garden more than anything and not to have his childhood living above a funeral !!!!!! which we are currently renting.0 -

Remember that Help to Buy wont just be for new builds from beginning of 2014 onwards. That'll help reduce your mortgage and so reduce your monthly payments - leaving more to pay for home decor.0

I have looked in to home buy and various schemes its not for me.
I don't want to sell my home and have to pay out 20% of its worth to the government along side of paying them a monthly fee.
And i am generalising0 -
We have spent 7 yrs renovating our Victorian house and it is just about finished. It takes time, best to live in the house for a least 2 yrs before deciding what needs to change so no rush/regret over taking wall X and Y down. Also when you have the cash for improvements wait for sales and discounts plus check for bargain bins and learn to ask for money off because there's a dent or slight mark.
Biggest lesson learnt by us is, don't tear wallpaper off the walls unless you have enough cash to re plaster said walls because the wallpaper was the only thing holding the plaster onto the brick work.. I've just paid almost £1K to render my side of the chimney, (next door are letting their side fall down).
Honestly save, save and save some more as costs mount up and that includes cover for boiler, re wiring, removal costs etc. It is the biggest drain on your wallet and needs good budget management to balance the needs and wants. Good luck with the house/job hunting.Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74
