Morning All,
Very overcast and definitely a few degrees cooler here today
Julie - brussel sprouts and cabbage are supposed to be good for arthritus too. (was on radio 5 live yesterday)
Redruby - I agree with Floss about IOM, it is a beautiful quaint island, with lots of hidden treasures.
Party invites nearly all delivered, so now we will be starting to get ourselves ready for our retirement holiday. We are going next Tuesday, but I will save details until the weekend, as I may be drummed out of this Forum when you hear where we are going and what we are doing.
Have a good day everyone :beer:0 -

On safari in Africa, perhaps? Or a cruise round Australia? Or ... Or ... Or?
I'm just in and having coffee with Sammy-cat after visiting M&D's where I'm doing my gardening. The first of the seeds has sprouted! There are little green leaves poking out of the soil! I'm so excitedNow I just have to try not to kill them or let anything eat them until they're big enough to be part of my dinner

Hoppy Birdday Mr Luxor.:D :bdaycake:Don't feel in a great place this morning, have several things on my mind and didn't sleep at all well, have still got shed loads of stuff to do and the house is still a pit, hope that by tonight I feel in a better place - as I know from past experience once I get on a downward spiral it's difficult to pull back out of it and I really don't want to be back on meds - I've been off them over 12 months.Hugs NMLC x
Still reading and wishing you all well. Psyching myself up for my trip to hospital on Sunday. I will have my laptop as I need you all for company xIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Afternoon all, hope you're well and hugs to those that need them.
Am just getting started with the oldstyle threads, am an ex-dfw (woohoo) and not been a regular in years. In just over five weeks though I'll be moving from a one bed flat to a three bed house. Juggling housework and budget can be tricky as it is so I'm dreading the extra rooms to clean and going back to a stricter budget! Hoping the threads here will give me the help I need to manage it successfully.
Plans at the moment are to shift some unwanted/needed furniture through gumtree, start packing personal things that aren't necessary (pictures and books type stuff) so there's no mad rush and start meal planning to clear out cupboards.
All help, advise and encouragement gratefully received!!

Afternoon everyone
Thanx for the hugs etc, feeling slightly brighter as I've made a start with the ironing, so clutter looks a little less and had time to think and try to get my head straight whilst ironing.
Those that were asking about the white bread and IBS, I was diagnosed with IBS not long after I'd had DS2 and the doc said that its likely that there's only a few foods that would trigger it off, and white sliced bread tends to be something that alot of people have trouble with. I started dieting in June 2009 and have now lost around 5 stone, all by just being really sensible, 3 x proper meals a day, no clubs no fad diets. I stopped having a sandwich for lunch and now have a HM greek salad each day (love salad but couldn't eat lettuce every day!), porridge for brekkie and a sensible dinner, snacks are fruit/diet yogurt. The IBS improved dramatically within 2-3 days and now I only have a problem if I eat something I shouldn't etc. Something else that I found was that missing meals and eating anything with a lot of fat in it can really cause a flare up. But mainly you have to find what your individual triggers are.

I too suffer with IBS, and have found that my main issues are with pastry, white sliced bread and too much animal fats or oil. I'm a lot better now as I have changed my diet to exclude rich things like lots of cream, cheese, pies/pastry, chips fried in dripping etc and eat more oats, wholemeal / granary bread and fresh veg.0 -
Afternoon All
On our way home, on the M1 just passing Hardwick Hall. Less than an hour to go, then the washing mountain needs to be tackled. We also have to completely empty the 'van as it is going in for some warranty work while we are in Spain.
We have had a lovely time out, almost a month, and the weather has been better than expected, only the cold weather clothes have not had a look in, I packed for 4 seasons. Diet starts again once home. Had a sandwich at lunchtime when we stopped for ease, but that is the last of the bread, which also doesn't seem to agree with me. I also picked up a Mirror, thank you for the heads up on the £5 voucher.
nmlc (Hugs)) keep on fighting it
Molly we will be here

Hi Everyone......been browsing since I got home from holiday last week....wondering where Halight is?
Had a brilliant time in Majorca with my DDs, Puerto Pollensa is a lovely place and the hotel was excellent.
Glad to see that everyone else who was holidaying around the same time seems to have had a good time too.
A few of you have been talking about white bread and IBs . I've had IBS for years now. Through the night last night I was in awful pain with stomach cramps....I've realised that I ate very little bread while on holiday and then it was brown, but since coming home I've been eating white toast again. Going to try eating only brown bread for a week and see if it makes a difference.0 -

We have a "Sprocker" Spaniel named Lizzie arriving at about 09:00 tomorrow morning for a 4-day stay; she'll be the last til after our holiday (away 9th to 16th, and Mr LW has the rest of the week beginning Mon 16th on leave as well, but that will just be based at home). Then, the day he goes back to work, 23rd, my Hairy Hooligans Bailey & Cassie descend on me for 9 days.:TIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
